LEVEL UP YOUR GAME For every young player who aims high: sharpen your skills, build your basketball IQ, and develop a winner's mindset.

The Proteas Hoop Lab Camp is back for its third edition, offering three intensive four-day sessions at a high level of training.

As every year, we welcome elite coaches with extensive experience in international basketball, from the NBA and Europe’s top leagues, for a camp designed and directed by Manos Manouselis, Academy Technical Director and Head Coach of the Proteas men’s team.

Through specialized coaching and purposeful drills, young players develop their individual skills, deepen their understanding of the game, and take their play to the next level in just four days.

Together with the Proteas coaching staff, we are building an exceptional team that will make the summer of 2026 an unforgettable experience for every young player lucky enough to be part of it!

Over 12 days, from July 7 to July 19, Coaches Mallon, Davis, and Cook, under the coordination of Manos Manousselis, Technical Director of the Proteas Academy, will work from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM to systematically build each child’s comprehensive individual tactics, enabling them to achieve high goals and play the game with a “winner’s” mentality, both offensively and defensively!

Manos Manouselis Technical Director of Proteas Voulas

Proteas Hoop Lab Camp returns for a third consecutive year and this summer it comes with a fresh concept that develops progressively across three four-day periods. Each period has its own focus, but the three periods are connected like chapters of the same book: we start from the foundations of one-on-one play and we build all the way up to a full five-on-five game across the entire court.

In the first period, we focus on One on One and Shooting. We work on footwork, strength and conditioning, and offensive moves after dribble or after pass, while at the same time we build individual defense both on the ball and off the ball. Our goal is for the athlete to learn how to make decisions quickly and read correctly what the defense or the offense is giving them, in conditions that simulate real game environment — with a shot clock running and a score on the board to add pressure.

The second period is dedicated to Decision Making and 3-Point Shooting. We analyse the technique of long-range shooting from the very beginning — stance, how to receive the pass, footwork, release — and we move on to execution under defensive pressure and in specific time and score situations. We work on shots after a pass, shots off the dribble, shots coming off screens, and we also teach how to defend effectively against three-point shooters.

In the third and final period, we play the game. Everything our athletes have learned in the first two periods is applied inside real game situations, with more players on the floor. We start with 3 on 3 with offensive advantage and we progressively reach regular 5 on 5 across the full court, working on spacing, timing, off-ball movement and the right defensive mentality every player needs in order to be a positive contributor to their team.

Throughout the camp, four values guide everything we do on and off the court: Perfect Effort, Trust, Togetherness, Accountability.

The Proteas Hoop Lab is coordinated, once again, by Manos Manouselis, Academies Technical Director and Head Coach of the Proteas Men’s Team. As every year, we host coaches with significant international basketball experience — the names of this year’s coaching staff will be announced soon.
